The following is the stated mission of Third Eye Dancers:
- Communicate social issues affecting children, including education, environmental, abuse and those related to health through dance and prompting action
- Raise funds through dance events to benefit nonprofit organizations whose mission identify with our goals
- Promote the art of Bharatanatyam by inviting reputed artists for performance and lecture demonstration.
Third Eye Dancers is a Georgia not for profit organization (IRS 501 c 3) with the goal of increasing awareness about social issues affecting children, including education, environmental, abuse and those related to health. The organization strongly believes that communicating social issues through dance not only enhances reception but also entices children and young adults to get involved in the remediation of such pressing issues.
The second objective of this organization is to promote the art form of Bharatnatyam. Bharatnatyam is one of the oldest dance art forms from India. Bharatanatyam involves one expressing oneself through music, dance and beat. Our organization will provide lectures and shows to demonstrate the art of Bharatanatyam and the benefits of the art. We want to educate people and increase their appreciation for the art of Bharatanatyam.
In this day and age, we have become desensitized to social issues around us. While we see them with two eyes we don’t necessarily have an opportunity to digest or even act. Third eye symbolizes a state of enlightenment or knowledge. We want to act as the third eye that delivers the message through dance. The programs taken up by Third Eye Dancers will focus on spreading awareness and enlighten our community on various social issues through dance.
Prior to starting Third Eye Dancers, the leadership of Third Eye has organized and conducted various fundraisers benefitting different not for profit organizations. Partnering with Bharathakala Natya Academy, We organized fundraising events for different causes including Dayaa Nidhi (in 2007 for Rising Star Outreach), Prana (In 2009 for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation) and has raised more than $21,000 dollars in the process.
